Changing Seasons – December 2025

Hello again friends. The new year marches on, but I’m back with another round of catching up on the past year. December was a continuation of November’s transitions, and I didn’t take many share-worthy photos. Here are just a few from the month.

Early in the month it snowed prettily in the evening, and I got to witness this dreamy wonderland. I remember hearing thunder in the distance as it snowed, which was a strange and new experience. Coincidentally, a light dusting of snow is collecting on rooftops and sidewalks as I type up this post. The first snow of the calendar year.

Lando Norris is the 2025 Formula 1 World Driver’s Champion! I remember feeling quite nervous during the race, hoping Max wouldn’t pull off a Max-like miracle, worried about a random mechanical failure to Lando’s car. But he stayed calm and cool and clinched the championship. It was a long journey to the top from when I started following mid-season, back when Lando was solidly in second place (and Max was nowhere in contention). I’m happy for him and am looking forward to the start of the 2026 season. (New regulations! Which constructor will come out strong?)

Not a lot of homemade eats this month. Here I had meal prepped tomatoes, carrot salad and egg salad to go over toast. This was probably my most colorful homemade meal.

I had not one, but TWO bungeo-ppangs (fish-shaped pastries filled with red bean) this month. These are a classic winter street food, but the vendors are harder and harder to find these days. I was amused by the different styles of the fish molds used for both. The one on the right, bought near the traditional Namdaemun market, looks a bit more “realistic.” The fish on the left, with its heart eye, was clearly a more cartoony mold. Alas, this was the only page added to my sketchbook in December.

Delicious pizza from my favorite pizza parlor was had.

And I bid adieu to the last (and very stressful) day of 2025 with some donuts half-priced at closing. (The almond brittle one on the left was my favorite.)

I’ll be back again soon with my Books in 2025 post, and then we shall move on to moments in 2026! Stay warm and well, friends!
