Changing Seasons – February 2026

Hello from a warmer Seoul, friends! While there may be a short cold snap or two left in this season, it seems the arctic temperatures are behind us. And what a welcome change that will be. This winter I really felt like a grumpy, hibernating bear, loathe to leave the house full stop. I look forward to spring cleaning, spring decluttering, and more outdoor activity in the days to come.

But before we spring forward, a quick look back at the past month.

In February, I continued to lean into the needle arts and cozy crafting at home. This month was all about crochet! I continued with the yarn from Daiso and sort of improvised my way to a little card wallet.

For most of the month, my couch was usually covered in various crochet projects.

The crocheting slowed down a bit during the lunar new year holiday and a quick trip to Busan, but did not stop. I even worked on my flower coaster on the train back to Seoul.

And while in Busan, I received some brown yarn from my aunt, and brought that back to crochet a little basket for my coasters.

And finally finished both the rose and lily of the valley coasters towards the end of the month. I don’t think I’ll actually be using them as coasters. For now they are sitting pretty as a basket bouquet on my table.

I also put together a slightly wonky, but functional, pot trivet for my kitchen. I like that it adds a bit of color to my mostly white and black kitchen.

And the last crochet project of the month: a cute little stuffed tomato. (The tomato’s not tied off in this progress pic.)

I also took a four-session sewing machine class this month. The workshop’s theme was upcyling an old collar shirt into: a pin cushion, drawstring pouch, pencil case, apron and sewing notions pouch. Here’s a pic of the cushion, pencil case, and drawstring pouch. I’ve actually been using my pencil case as a crochet hook case. The loop holds two stitch markers and my weaving needle (threaded to another string loop). It would be perfect if only I could fit in my scissors too.

I’ve been slowly collecting some scrap fabrics and am on the hunt for a used sewing machine. Hopefully will find a good one soon so I can continue my sewing adventures!

With all the crochet and sewing this month, I hardly picked up pen and paper for any drawing or journaling. I did attend a zine-making workshop at the end of the month with a friend though, and it was fun to return to my roots of cutting and pasting. Forgot to take a picture of my zine, but here’s a shot of the magazine-covered table.

I also made some more BTS freebies bracelets. I need to ramp up production because…

I got a ticket for the BTS comeback live show in three weeks!! I am nowhere near the stage, but still very excited to just be there in person for the comeback.

And that wraps up February, friends. March is going to be a great month. Wishing you well, as always.
