Stationery Sunday – Mazzzzy and mimidonut

Hello and welcome to the second Stationery Seoul. Today’s post is brought to you by the letter ‘M.’ Both Mazzzzy and mimidonut are down the street from each other, just a short walk from Hongik station (the Airport Rail line side).

(If you’d like to see more, check out my Seoul Stationery Guide, updated weekly!)

Mazzzzy (마찌)

Keep your eyes peeled and up if you’re looking to visit Mazzzy. I walked past the building several times before I finally looked up and saw the little black heart sign. (When I visited it was above a GoPro store.) On the other wall there’s a cute window drawing: Yes, I will look at the moon with you.

The store carries your basic stationery items like postcards, memo pads, washi tapes and stickers. There are also home goods items and accessories like drinking glasses, mugs, canvas bags, mousepads, and smartphone accessories all with the brand’s distinct graphics and quirky quotes.

The brand’s aesthetic is cute and bold graphic designs with a few recurring motifs like hearts, animals and dessert.

I got the carrot cake cream cheese design as a postcard. (Carrot cake is my favorite!)

I also got two of the sticker packs. You can see the description of the stickers in the pack; there’s 110 stickers, about 10 of each design. I have a lot of small stickers in my collection but I’ve been wanting to experiment with larger, graphic design stickers.

mimidonut (미미도넛)

mimdonut is a prop shop famous for its mini toys, figures and accessories. Apparently even Jenny from Black Pink (Kpop star) has visited and shared the shop on her Instagram.

The shop doesn’t allow close-up photography of the items, only general shots of the interior. But I think you can get a sense of the items available here. Lots of nostalgic characters and brands from Disney, Pixar, Peanuts, Harry Potter and more.

When I went the back room was dressed up as “Andy’s room” from Toy Story. Can you see the iconic cloud wallpaper?

I got two Snoopy pen loops and a Harry Potter keychain, but I might have to go back to get this HP keychain just recently released:

If you had told me a year ago I’d be running around town buying heart stickers and keychains, I wouldn’t have believed you. But there you have it! There are worse habits than buying cute things to decorate my snail mail and diary (and sharing with others)!

On this day I also went a little farther down the street to Object, which is FOUR FLOORS of really nicely curated stationery/homegoods. So stay tuned for that next week. Have a lovely week and see you here again for another Stationery Sunday!

  1. I love going on a tour like this with you! Especially since I can’t go to stores like that right now (since they’re closed still)–and because I’m not aware of such darling places near me. When the world is whole again around here, I’ll have to do some exploring! Thanks for the virtual fun! 🙂

  2. These both look like such fun places to explore. I’m not really a shopper, but because I’m not able to at the moment, I’ve had a craving for a good long browse in a book shop, or somewhere like Mimidonut.

    1. I’ve noticed these types of indie bookstores and indie brand stationery shops often have later hours, and/or are open only a few days a week. Larger stores are open earlier/longer. 🙂

  3. Ive tried Mazzzzy before! I didnt know about mimidonnut tho, but it looks so cute! Will be on my list whenever i went to Seoul again!😆😆 Btw how’s the situation in Seoul? Are you still be able to move around & are the shops still open? Stay safe & healthy for you, hope the world gets better soon.💙

    1. mimidonut is such a treat for the eyes! I hope you can visit next time! Seoul is more quiet and subdued but there isn’t an official lockdown. People can move freely but are encouraged to minimize trips, avoid crowds and practice social distancing. Normal stores and restaurants seem to be open, and I think most of these stationery shops are too. I miss exploring the city so this series has been a fun trip down memory lane. Please stay safe as well until the world is whole again!♡

    1. Hehe I saw a word painted on another stationery shop the other day: kidult. I think that best describes my newfound love for cute stationery and little props. 😀 I fell behind on Stationery Sunday but I’ll have the next post ready for next week! ❤ Thanks for turning in 😀
